Basic Seminar-Workshop on Community Enumeration Held at NAL Mini-Amphitheatre

 

Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija – A successful "Basic Seminar-Workshop on Community Enumeration" was conducted today at the NAL Mini-Amphitheatre, bringing together participants from various academic backgrounds to recalibrate their skills in community enumeration on October 3, 2024. Said event was in collaboration among the following MVGFC offices: Community Extension and Outreach Program, Research and Development Office, Special Initiatives and Project, Educational Resources and Development, and Institute of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences.

The event saw the participation of 12 Institute of Teacher Education students, representatives from two high schools, three Institute of Criminal Justice Education students, and two Institute of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences students. They were guided by a range of experts who shared their insights and expertise on the critical role of community enumeration.

Mrs. Ma. Victoria Victa from the Community Extension and Outreach Program (CEOP) led a discussion on the social work perspective in community enumeration, highlighting the importance of accurate data collection in addressing community needs. Angelo Sera from CEOP, Michelle Castillo from high school, Edison Diego from IBM, and Everlina Navarro from ITE were also present, providing additional perspectives on their respective fields.

The seminar also featured in-depth discussions from prominent speakers such as Dr. Ruth Alfonso, who emphasized the role of linguistics in community enumeration, and Dr. Soledad Roguel, who provided insights into the use of evaluation tools in the enumeration process. Their talks highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of community enumeration and the importance of proper linguistic and evaluative frameworks in ensuring accurate and meaningful data collection.

The event began with an inspiring opening remark by Dr. Federico Perez, who underscored the importance of recalibrating skills to meet the changing needs of communities. Abegail Dela Cruz, RPM, and Vince Jomar Cruz were also acknowledged for their roles in the event. The workshop concluded with Asst. Prof. Rene Boy Abiva delivering the closing remarks, commending the participants for their dedication and active involvement in the recalibration of their skills.

The seminar aimed to enhance the students' and participants' understanding of community enumeration through practical insights and theoretical knowledge. As community enumeration remains a crucial tool for gathering information to address local issues, this recalibration workshop provided the participants with the skills and techniques necessary for effective data collection and community engagement.
